Course Overview
The course is delivered in accordance with imo-msc-mepc-7-circ-6. Guidance on the qualifications and training for ISM code designated persons.
The Designated Person has a key role in the development and implementation of the safety management system within a shipping company with a view to ensuring safety at sea, prevention of human injury or loss life, and avoidance of damage to the environment, in particular to the marine environment and to property.
Learning Outcomes
The training addresses the safety management elements in compliance with the requirements of the ISM Code.
Knowledge and understanding of the ISM Code.
Mandatory rules and regulations.
Applicable codes, guidelines and standards as appropriate.
Assessment techniques of examining, questioning, evaluating and reporting.
Technical or operational aspects of safety management.
Understanding of shipping and shipboard operations.
Requirements of the marine related management system audits.
Effective communications with shipboard staff and senior management.
On Completion
On successful completion of this course, participants will be issued with a Certificate of Completion.
