Course Overview
The Injury Management Coordinator course is provided in association with Edith Cowan University.
This course is offered in both face to face and virtual instructor led training formats using video conferencing on alternate months.
This course is ideal for professionals responsible for managing workplace health and safety, human resources, and employee well-being.
The Injury Management Coordinator introduces the fundamentals of Workers Compensation and Injury Management, focusing on regulatory frameworks, the role of WorkCover WA, and the importance of effective return-to-work strategies. This course covers key legislation, the responsibilities of various governing bodies, and the benefits of injury management systems for both employers and employees.
The Injury Management Coordinator course is aligned to the new Workers Compensation and Injury Management Act 2023 and the Workers Compensation and Injury Management Regulations 2024. The new legislation was enacted on July 1st, 2024.
In Western Australia, the Workers’ Compensation scheme is administrated by WorkCover WA. It falls under the WA Government’s Department for Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS). As the regulator, it enforces the Act by monitoring employers and insurers to ensure they meet their obligations.
Failing to have a WorkCover compliant Return-to-Work Program and Injury Management System in place is prohibited under The Act, for which significant penalties can apply.
